Made by Me was set up by Sally to bring her love of pottery painting and arts and crafts to local people. Sally enjoys working with people of all ages and abilities to create bespoke handcrafted painted pottery.
Working with Sally is a handful of trusted and talented friends who will show up from time to time to run workshops, such as Christmas Wreath making workshops, candle and wax making and sew and mend classes.
Sally is very passionate about accessibility. Before Starting Made by Me, Sally worked for nearly 20 years in health and social care and welcomes more people with learning disabilities into the studio. Adapted tools are available and we are currently seeking financial support for more adapted options.
We offer a wide range of 'bisque' pottery for you to paint - from cups and bowls to planters and toy figures. Check out some of our current stock here.
At Made by Me, you'll choose your favourite bisque piece, each waiting for your personal touch. If you need some inspiration check out our inspiration page.
So, pick your bisque, let your creativity flow, and watch your masterpiece come to life!
Once you've painted your bisque with our special ceramic paints, we’ll glaze and fire it again for you in our kiln. This final step enhances the colours and gives your piece a smooth, glossy finish, making it food-safe and long-lasting.
Bisque pottery is typically fired in a kiln at temperatures between 980°C to 1,060°C [so very hot!]. This is known as a bisque or biscuit firing, which hardens the clay while keeping it porous enough to absorb glaze.
After 10 days - allowing your piece time to cool and settle - you can pick it up and show it off. Don't worry! We will notify you when it is ready.
We have compiled a list of questions we get asked regularly.
